Feversham Primary Academy have revealed that their secret to SATs success lies in 6 hours from music per week – more effective than constant past papers.

In essence, they teach pupils how to learn instead of what to learn.

Based on the Kodaly Approach the underpinning principle is to let children experience learning unconsciously without barriers e.g. if you learn to sing, you don’t have to tackle the technicalities of a musical instrument.  Similarly, in teaching students to simply learn, they have an opportunity to exercise that as an independent skill without the barriers of say, understanding pice of text for English, or how to solve a Maths problem.
